Lake Sherwood Estate Technology and Home Automation

A place this quiet deserves technology you never notice.

We design the light, sound, air, controls, and other technology of Lake Sherwood estates as one system, from the main house to the guest house, the terraces, and the grounds. Everything is planned to protect what drew you here: the stillness, the views, and the privacy.

The setting does half the work.

The house should never undo it.

The lake and the ridgelines set a calm that most homes can't match. A bright fixture spilling into the night sky, a fan hum in the bedroom, or a dead zone at the far end of the property is enough to break it. Designed with care, the home becomes as quiet and restful as the place around it.

A method built for homes like this.

Many spaces, one experience.

UX for Spaces, our design method, sets human performance targets for every space, then designs each technology layer to meet them. On an estate, that's what keeps dozens of rooms and outdoor spaces feeling like one home. Particle, our acoustics software, predicts how each room will sound. Aperture, our design platform, is used by the Calm Tech Institute.

Quiet, dark, and comfortable, by design.

Inside the house and across the property.

We set targets for each space: silence in the bedrooms, darkness that preserves the night sky, gentle light across terraces and paths, strong coverage to the far edge of the grounds, reference sound in the cinema. Systems are chosen to meet them and verified after construction.

Jimmy Powers, founder.

About 25 years designing technology for homes at this scale.

Jimmy's work includes a 25,000 square foot Bel Air estate where forty audio zones answer to one keypad. He is a Crestron Certified Technology Architect, an HAA-certified acoustic consultant, a certified UX designer, and a Recognized Design Partner of the Calm Tech Institute, and he created UX for Spaces, Particle, and Aperture. Blend is a licensed C-7 contractor and an authorized Control4 and Lutron dealer.

One touch for the whole estate.

Discreet for you, simple for staff and guests.

Evening comes on with a single press: soft light along the paths, music on the terrace, shades lowering as the sun drops behind the ridge. Gates, cameras, and access stay quietly in the background. We watch the systems remotely, so the house is ready whether you've been away a day or a season.

A complete plan for house and grounds.

Briefs, coordinated drawings, and a documented finish.

Every space gets a written brief. Your architect, builder, and landscape team get drawings that place every keypad, speaker, fixture, shade pocket, rack, and conduit run, including the long runs between structures. At completion we measure, calibrate, and document the system, then care for it.

Plan the property, not just the house.

Before grading, landscape, and walls are set.

Conduit across the grounds, power and network to outbuildings, landscape lighting and audio, and a cool, serviceable equipment room are simple to plan early. Once the hardscape is in, every one of them becomes a project of its own.

Working with your entire design team.

Architect, builder, interior, lighting, and landscape.

We coordinate across every discipline so technology appears only where the design wants it and disappears everywhere else. We work throughout Lake Sherwood and neighboring Hidden Valley, and across the Conejo Valley from our studio in Agoura Hills.

Spaces we've shaped.

A 25,000 square foot Bel Air estate where the entire property runs from one keypad. Close by, a 54-seat private cinema in Westlake and our Dolby Atmos studio in Agoura Hills, open to visit. A Camarillo private club run from one interface, a Dolby Atmos creative campus in Miami, and residences in Calabasas, Topanga, and Brentwood.
