Private Cinema
& Home Theater
A reference cinema starts with the space.
Blend designs and installs home theaters and private cinemas, bringing acoustics, picture, sound, lighting, and control into one complete design. You won't find a reference projector in one of our cinemas without reference sound, acoustics, and light control to match. Light bouncing off a pale ceiling erases contrast before any setting is touched. The walls decide the bass. The HVAC decides how quiet the quiet scenes are. So we design those first. Every cinema's acoustics are modeled in Particle before construction, then picture and sound are installed and calibrated at the seats.

Immersive Sound
Every seat hears the film as it was mixed.
At low frequencies, the dimensions of the space shape the bass more than the subwoofer does. Sound waves stack up at some seats and cancel at others. Particle models that behavior, places multiple subwoofers for the smallest seat-to-seat difference, and screens out nulls first, because peaks can be equalized and nulls can't. Immersive speaker layouts for formats like Dolby Atmos are checked against CEDIA RP22 before a single bracket goes up.
Picture
Contrast, color, and scale, set by the space.
Screen size follows viewing distance and field of view, not the widest wall. We solve seating risers and sightlines so every row clears the heads in front, choose the screen surface for the space's light, and set projector throw to the geometry. Dark, low-reflectance surfaces near the screen keep contrast where the projector put it. Every display gets an ISF calibration in the finished space, so color, contrast, and brightness match what the filmmaker intended.

Light & Control
Settle in. The space sets the scene.
Lighting is layered for arrival, seating, feature, intermission, and exit. Once the picture starts, nothing glows in the field of view: no keypad LEDs, no equipment lights, and egress lighting kept out of the sightline. One press sets the lights, shades, picture, and sound, and the same system handles a pause, a late guest, or a change of plan.
Acoustic Interiors
Treatment that doesn't look like treatment.
Absorption and diffusion are designed to reverberation targets across the frequency range, then built into the slat walls, fabric panels, and ceiling planes your designer chooses. Particle designs the absorbers and diffusers to those targets, so the finish and the performance come from the same drawing.

Featured Project
The Quincy Jones Residence | Private Cinema | Bel Air, CA
I installed this cinema for the late, great Quincy Jones at the very start of my career, before Blend existed. A couple of years after I founded Blend, Quincy's team reached out, and we've cared for the residence's technology ever since. Over the years, we redesigned the system's audio and technology with PMC and Trinov. It was the first construction site I ever set foot on, and it's where I learned much of what I know. Serving Quincy and his home is the honor of a lifetime, and this will forever be my featured system.

Comfort
Comfortable from the opening scene to the credits.
A sealed, isolated space with a full row of guests warms up and loses fresh air fast. We work with your mechanical engineer on air exchange, temperature, and humidity, with ducts and diffusers sized to stay under the noise target. Comfort holds through a three-hour film without the system joining the soundtrack.
