Blend Technology is a technology design and integration practice in Agoura Hills, California, founded in 2006. Our founder and principal, Jimmy Powers, has designed technology for buildings since 2001. A smart home follows commands. A responsive, intelligent space responds to the people inside it. That is the level we design and build to.
We are responsible for how a space feels, senses and responds. We bring its light, sound, air and controls together around the people who use it, designing architectural acoustics, lighting, automation, audiovisual systems and software as one system, around the intent of the space. Our work spans private residences, private cinemas, recording studios, automotive galleries, hotels and commercial spaces.
Through UX for Spaces™, we begin with what people need to do and feel in a space. That intent guides the acoustics, light, controls and technology, so every part supports the same experience: a quieter conversation, a more focused session, a space that is effortless to use. Particle, our acoustics app, models how low frequencies behave in a room and optimizes subwoofer placement before anything is installed. It works alongside site investigation and engineering, so acoustic decisions are made on the drawings, not after the walls close.
We work with architects, interior designers, builders, developers and owners from schematic design through installation, verification and ongoing care. Our responsibility continues after opening day. We monitor, maintain and verify performance so the comfort, clarity and quiet you designed for last over time.
We also designed and built Aperture for the Calm Tech Institute, translating design intent into technology specifications. We are a Strategic Partner and Recognized Design Partner of the Calm Tech Institute, and we are listed on Dolby's studio directory. Our credentials include HAA Level 3, Crestron CTA (Residential and Commercial), Dante Level 3 and the Google UX Design Professional Certificate. We are a Control4 Dealer, a Lutron Dealer and a licensed California C-7 Low Voltage Contractor (License #1014240).
